For the illusion of depth assignment I was inspired by tablescapes. This is  a portrait of one of our family dogs, Odin (affectionately called Odie). He is a large, black German Shepard who likes to sit across the table from you and beg. He is so large that it looks as if he is sitting at the table. I tried to create an illusion of depth mostly with shadows and diminishing details farther back from the table.  I created this in Photoshop from imagination and memory.  I used a background layer and drew lines with the pen tool. I used a fill tool for the tablecloth. I the ellipse tool to create the plate. The wallpaper background I created using another document to make a radial design that I turned into a pattern. I used the paint brush tool to create both the steak and Odin as well as their shadows. Lastly. I dimmed the background by painting over the border with a low opacity, dark shade.  I thought of using the large amount of negative space for text.  Specifically, this could be an invitation for my immediate family to Christmas dinner.  We need a few more laughs and joy this holiday season.
