The aim of this project was to create a symmetrical design with an element that unifies the piece and draws the eye to the center of the work. Although not entirely successful in that venture, there are a lot of linear elements that help to create a symmetrical design.
The project was inspired by the art in my discussion board post. I wanted to create a small story. My family traditionally makes pretzels for Oktoberfest. I used the grid function and locking lines to the grid to create panels. I filled the panels with different drawings showing parts of the process or “life” journey of the pretzels. I used a variety of brushes and fill layers for the backgrounds.
I had a difficult time with the instructions and my version of Photoshop. There is actually a symmetrical function that is easier to use. The problem with that was having to divide my symmetrical work in half in order to submit my work as assigned. My imprecision caused problems with the border not being rectangular. In an attempt to cover that up I think I emphasized it by attempting a frame.
